Thomas Jefferson Shepherd was born February 21, 1923 in Memphis to Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. Shepherd. He passed away February 6, 2016.

He was a 1940 graduate of Memphis Technical High School. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Force in January 1941 and retired in October 1966 as a Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force. During World War II and the Korean War, he flew with the 44th Bomb Group. While stationed at Kessler AFB, he met and married Lurline Puller Smith, his wife of 40 years. After retiring, he and his family moved to Dallas, Texas where he worked as Director of Staffing until 1986 for E-Systems at its Garland, Texas division. In 1989 after the death of his wife Lurline, he returned to Memphis. In January 1990, Mr. Shepherd married Sally Pat Calvin. They lived in Collierville until her death in March 2013. At the time of his death, Mr. Shepherd resided at Germantown Plantation in Germantown, Tennessee.

Mr. Shepherd was actively involved in Collierville serving 16 years total on Collierville Town Boards and commissions. These include 5 years on the Planning Commission, 9 years on the Industrial Development Board and 2 years on the Beer Board.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Haynes and Camille McNeill of Memphis, Tennessee; his daughters and sons-in-law Mary and Mark Rogers of Garland, Texas; and Claudia and Willie B. Castleberry, Jr. of Huntington, Texas. Grandchildren are Colin Castleberry and wife Heather of Crockett, Texas; Jacqueline Flesher and husband Phillip of Austin, Texas; and Elizabeth Sherrard and husband Tom of Nashville, Tennessee. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Halleigh Castleberry, Henry and George Flesher, and Camille Sherrard.

He was preceded in death by his wives Lurline Smith Shepherd and Sally Pat Shepherd. He was also preceded in death by both of his parents, his brother and sister-in-law Roy H. and Janie Shepherd, his sister and brother-in-law Etta Grace and Carl Peterson and his sister Mary Louise Shepherd.
