Broe Mitchell was born in bolivar Missouri the son of Erastus Benson Mitchell and Mamie Berniece Hill. He learn the art of carpentry from his grandfather Steven Benjamin hill and worked several years as a carpenter. An avid baseball player he played ball while at college in Springfield at what is now southwest Missouri State University -he graduated with a degree in accounting . In 1917 he married Lois Williams and they lived the rest of their lives in Springfield with the exception of a short move to Sepulpa, Ok. Broe was an accountant for the Frisco Railroad from 1917 until his retirement. Broe was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Mary Louise, and his brothers, Lt. Max S. Mitchell and Thomas. He was survived by his wife, his son William B., 2 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was also survived by sisters Genevieve Beson and Mary Ruth Maples
