Mrs. Nelda Jo Hughes Steele, age 85 of Pisgah, Alabama passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at Monday, April 11, 2016 at 3 p.m. from Scottsboro Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Screws officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First United Methodist Women’s Ministry, 1105 South Broad Street, Scottsboro, AL 35768.
She is survived by her brother, Frank Hughes (Alta) and niece, Annette Little (John), and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, O.B. Steele; parents, Johnny & Mary Uda Hughes; and brothers, Bobby Hughes, and SGT. Macklin O. Hughes.
Mrs. Steele was an alumna of the University of Alabama and Jacksonville State University. She was a retired home economist with Alabama Power. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Scottsboro and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and other service organizations.
