Helen Audrey Evans VanMeter, 84, of Franklin, passed away April 14, 2016. The daughter of Loren T. and Flossie P. (Wilson) Foley, Helen was born March 17, 1932 in Russell Springs, Kentucky.
She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church, Franklin. In 1989, after 30 years, Helen retired from RCA. Helen enjoyed gardening, cooking and helping people.
Survivors include her sons, Steven D. Evans (Kim) of Franklin and Jeffrey L. Evans of Russell Springs, Kentucky; daughter, Marsha K. Smith of Indianapolis; brother, Olbie Foley (Annelies) of Russell Springs, Kentucky; grandchildren, Jeanette Mails, Steven Evans, Wesley Knipp and Jordan Evans; great-grandchildren, Tyler Coffey, Tanner, Evans, Katie Evans, Wyatt Evans and Nathaniel Knipp and great-great-grandchildren, Zaeden Mullis and Bentley Knipp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Esco Evans and Albert VanMeter; and sisters, Gladys Rexroat, Alma Tengelitsch, Mary Tiller and Olive Wilson.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 p.m. April 20, 2016 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home – 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
