Patrick was very successful, rising to be President of Shell Oil Company Canada for a period of over 15 years. He was well travelled in the world from a young age, completing his education in Scotland; home country of his parents and in England. His travels are well evidenced by the number of travel documents which are recorded on various genealogy sites. He retired in England from Shell Oil as head of the company pension fund, then returned to Canada to spent the remainder of his days.

Patrick M. Fowlie, of Avenue Road (Toronto), president of Shell Canada Ltd. from 1930 to 1948, died yesterday (1 Dec 1965) after a coronary thrombosis. Born in Singapore, educated in Scotland and at Woolwich in England; served in Europe during WWI. Later in India with the Imperial Army as a gunnery officer. Was with Royal Dutch Shell in London before coming to Canada where he headed Shell Canada for 18 years before turning to England to administer Royal Dutch Shell pension plan. Upon retirement in 1957, he returned to Canada. Leaves his wife, the former Ruby Price.
