Russell is my stepson. I first met him when he was about 1 1/2 years old. He was in his high chair smiling with a fudge covered face. He was quiet by nature and had a wonderful sense of humor.

We will never know the cause of Russ' death, the coroner could find no reason why he died suddenly May 18, 2005 and had no choice but to list "undetermined" as his cause of death.

He left us 4 beautiful grandchildren.

I am a better person for having known him.

-----------------------------------------------------

On July 19th, the only man I knew as a father was born. Roy Ephraim "Carl" Sohlberg made the sacrifice and, with a child of his own, took on the responsibility of a new wife and yet another child. As we all are, he also, was not without faults, but during his entire life, he made sure that his family was provided for to the best of his ability. It is a day to remember how he is missed.

On July 19th, my mother, a woman of such giving that it is the one thing that everyone who knew her would remember most, was taken from us. She worked hard all of her life and shared the fruits of her labors with her children and their children. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, sister and aunt, and best of all, a real friend to those that knew her. It is a day to remember how she is missed.

On July 19th, after a painfully long time, I received a call from the coroner's office to relate the final cause of the death of one of my own children. Russell was a timid, bashful and unassuming child that turned into a pillar of a man. I am impressed by his strength as a husband and father. His sense of humor was unparalleled and appreciated by anyone that knew him. His family was his life's work and he performed it brilliantly. It is a day to remember how he is missed.

As was expected, the coroner has no answers for his passing. He reported that Russell was, in all respects, a perfectly healthy human. The best he can surmise is that there was a sudden heart failure without a cause. He can not verify that information so he can only enter "undetermined" on the death certificate. While this comes as no surprise to some of us because we saw how seemingly healthy Russell was during our vacation to Galveston, a trip that Russell was so excited about taking and a trip that brought all us so much closer together. It is, somehow, unbefitting that Russell's life should be narrowed down to "undetermined". So as you remember Russell today, tomorrow and always, remember that he was a sensitive caring person that found joy in his family. He was a person larger than the life that was suddenly and unexpectedly taken from him. We will miss you Russ. Rest in peace! Dad
