Daughter of Jesse J. and Mary (Walter) Powell. She married Andy Smith on March 2, 1928 in Keytesville, MO and he preceded her in death on July 28 1964. Mrs Smith had lived in Kansas City the past 8 years, moving from Moberly where she had lived for 40 years and prior to that she lived in Chariton County. She was a homemaker and assisted on the farm. She worked at Dowdy's restaurant in Moberly for 7 years. Elsie was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Maxine Elizabeth Smith, four brothers; Lowell Powell, Claude L. Powell, Roy William Powell, Lawrence Hughes Powell and a sister Mary Louise Solomon. Visitation was Monday, October 30, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., with services following at 2:30 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury.
