Shannon was born in Cottage Hospital, Spadra Rd (now Harbor) and Amerige in Fullerton, CA to Michael Jack O'Brien and Marian Ruth O'Brien.
Raised primarily in La Habra by her mom, loving grandmother Cathryn Parker and her grandfather Elmer Parker, her guardians. She had a happy life with her Nana .
In 1954 her sister Allison was born. Shannon became Allison's surrogate mother guiding her through some of her early life challenges .
At 12 years old, Shannon flew solo to visit her dad in New York revealing she was up to many adventures in her life, solo driving across the US at one point . She was active in her high school activities.
Marrying Michael Smith in 1962 , a family grew, raising Gregory, Stephen and Jennifer teaching them the love, compassion, character, and responsibility they would need as adults.
She was an avid reader and gardener. She loved her job at a book store while living in RI for 5 years. She also enjoyed life in LA and Orange Counties and lastly in San Marcos CA where she had many life long friends that meant so much to her.
In 2013 she was blessed with Jennifer's daughter Autumn Grace . There was realization that she accomplished her life goal of a family was successful.
We know she is at peace in heaven knowing she fulfilled her role in life.
