Charles Thomas Moore was baptized at the Saint Thomas Episcopal Church, in Barnesboro, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

Charles was born into a family of devout good Samaritan Christians, Masons, performing musicians, and Coal Miners that were Railroad men as well, for the Coal Mines.

His father, Ed Moore, had been a barefoot coal miner from the age of 3 or 5. This was commonplace for children to be Coal Miners and often barefoot too in Barnesboro and in Coal Mining towns throughout America.

Charles' family relocated from Houtzdale in Clearfield County to Barnesboro in Cambria County, Pennsylvania. The family's relocation may have taken place before Charles was conceived.

MINE EXPLOSION AT ROSLYN

October 3rd, 1909
There was a devastating mine explosion at Mine No. 4 in Roslyn, Kittitas County, Washington. It is not known at this time if The Moore Family were residing in Cle Elum and Rosyln.

WASHINGTON

Before November 1910
When Charles was about 2 or 3 years old, his family relocated to the coal mining towns of Cle Elum and Roslyn, Kittitas County, Washington. This relocation included the family of his paternal Uncle Charles Thomas Moore.

Here Charles and his siblings spent most of their childhood.

His parents led the family from Barnesboro, while his father Ed worked on the railroads that took the family to reside in Cle Elum, Kittitas County, Washington. Then later to Provo, Provo County, Utah and Carbon, Utah. The men of the family mined in Provo, Utah and continued working as railroad employees. This lead the family back to reside in Cle Elum and Rosalyn, Kittitas County, Washington.

WORLD WAR I

Charles Moore was far too young to have been called to duty for this War.

SPANISH FLU OF 1918 - 1923
The Spanish Flu swept throughout the world claiming millions of lives. It is reported to have continued to kill people for five years.

The Moore family and related families were fortunate to not have lost a family member to this dreaded epidemic.

Prior to Winter 1918/1919
Charles' family relocated to Carbonville, Carbon County, Utah.

RETURN TO WASHINGTON
About 1920, Charles' family returned to Cle Elum, Kittitas County, Washington.

DEATH OF FATHER

December 27th, 1923
Grandpa Moore was only 16 years old when he and his family tragically lost his dad. Two days after Christmas 1923, while the family resided in Cle Elum, Kittitas County, Washington, his dad had a heart attack and suddenly passed way.

DEATH OF MATERNAL GRANDFATHER

December 27th, 1924
When Charles was 17 years old he and his family next lost his Grandpa Daniel Booth.
Tragically, his Grandpa passed away one year to the day of his dad's passing.

REMARRIAGE OF MOTHER

January 16th, 1926
When Grandpa Moore was 18 years old, his mother remarried:

Agnes "Isabelle" Booth Moore, age 48, married John William Catton, a Widowed Miner, in Ellensburg, Kittitas, Washington, USA by M.E. Flynn, Justice of the Peace.

There is every reason to believe that family members approved of their marriage. However, family members are not listed as Witnesses to this marriage.

I believe Grandpa Moore, age about 20, followed his Uncle Charles Thomas Moore Sr. & Aunt Elizabeth Ann (nee Booth) Moore to Oakland, Alameda County, California.

MARRIAGE AND FATHERHOOD

June 1st, 1929
Chuck Moore, age 21, married Eulah May Myers, age nearly 18, in Oakland, Alameda County, California, USA. To this union they were blessed with at least 3 children.

DEATH OF MOTHER

May 23rd, 1935

Grandpa Moore's mother passed away when he was 27 years old. It is not known to family how often Grandpa Moore traveled back to California to visit with his Mother and family in Washington, and when he last saw her before her passing.

Charles continued his employment as a SALESMAN at H. C. Capwell. The Moore Family resided at:
598 38th Street, Oakland, Alameda, California.

1938 OAKLAND CALIFORNIA

Charles, age 30, continued his employment as a SALESMAN at H. C. Capwell. The Moore Family resided at:
4665 Davenport Drive, Oakland, Alameda, California.

MILITARY REGISTRATION

October 16th, 1940
When Grandpa Moore was 33, he registered for military service at the Selective Service Local Board #58, 5407 Bond Street, Oakland, Alameda, California. However, he was not accepted due to his weak heart condition.

At this time, he owned his own Trucking Company.
The Moore Family resided at:
4420 Davenport Avenue, Oakland, Alameda County, California.

Registrar's Report recorded that Grandpa Charles is:
5'11", 180 lbs. with Hazel eyes, Brown hair, and a light complexion

DEATH OF BROTHER DONOVAN MOORE

September 25th, 1943
Charles' brother, Donovan Moore, age 39, tragically passed away single and at a young age.

It was reported that Don was enlisted in the military when he became quite ill from a tooth infection. Sadly, he did not recover and perished from complications, perhaps Pneumonia.

MILITARY

Charles was unable to serve in the U.S. Military as all of the men in his family had. He was found to have a bad heart, which sadly shortened his lifespan.

DEATH

Sunday July 23rd, 1967
Grandpa Moore passed away of a Sudden Heart Attack. He was taken to the hospital, but did not recover.

The day Charles Thomas Moore passed away was his brother Donovan's birthday.

Donovan Moore (1904 - 1943) had passed away nearly 24 years earlier, at the age of 39. It would have been Donovan's 63rd birthday.
