Gerald J. "Jerry" Anderson, 72, of Bettendorf, passed from this life Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Trinity Pathway Hospice at Trinity in Bettendorf. Services in celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge, Davenport. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Jerry was born in 1937 in Minneapolis, Minn., to Vern and Hannah Anderson. He married Priscilla M. Rauch on October 26, 1957, in Blue Island, Ill. He enjoyed his career as a territory salesman and retired from LaCrosse Rubber Mills, LaCrosse, Wis., on June 15, 1993. He was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport, and found his focus in life to be the church, his family and the love of his life, Priscilla. With a "large as life" personality and by taking a great interest in the welfare of those he met, he developed many lasting friendships. He contributed to numerous charitable organizations, helped friends/acquaintances deal with health/personal/professional problems, and took great joy in witnessing for his Lord.

He loved playing ball and coaching his son's sports teams early in their lives and, in later years, relished watching his grandchildren play sports and teaching them to fish at Big Sand Lake in Wisconsin. In retirement, he loved the winters on the beach in Port Aransas, Texas, and summers at the Big Sand. Through the years, he enjoyed fishing and golfing with his buddies. He enjoyed singing in the Zion Lutheran Church Choir and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Cubs and Bulls, as well as the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was an even bigger fan of Jesus Christ.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Priscilla; daughter, Kristin R. (Mark) Grunder, of Denver, Colo.; sons, Jeffrey B. (Betty) Anderson, of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Steven R. (Blanka) Anderson, of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Kaitlin M., Matthew M. and Mitchell R. Grunder, and Cory N. and Raquel M. Anderson; sister, Linda Ferguson, of Sycamore, Ill.; and brothers, Dewey Anderson, of Sycamore, and Dick Anderson, of Scottsdale, Ariz.
