Victor G. Abbs Jr. 68, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and formerly of Rosendale, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at Pikes Peak Hospice Home.
He was born a son of Victor G and Orma I. Sonnenberg Abbs on March 9, 1934, in Fond du Lac, Wis. He was baptized and confirmed at Church of Our Saviour Ev. Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac.
On Feb. 8, 1964, he married Patricia A. Warmbier at Peace Lutheran Church, Rosendale.
Victor served with the U. S. Navy from 1951-1971, retiring as an Engineman Chief. He was employed with Oshkosh Truck Corporation from 1971 until his retirement, after 25 years, in 1996.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Victor moved to Colorado on Nov. 1, 2002, to be near his grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two sons, Robert Victor Abbs, Rosendale, Gary Scott (Pamela) Abbs, Colorado Springs; a grandson, Ethan Scott; two sisters, Arlene Ford, Louisville, Ky., and Joan (Wayne) Stageman, Plano, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Karen Brown.
Services; The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Peace Lutheran Church, Rosendale, with the Rev. Charles Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Rosendale Cemetery.
Visitation: The visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb, 28, 2003, at Peace Lutheran church and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Peace Lutheran Church, Rosendale, or Pikes Peak Hospice, Colorado Springs, Colo. Mach Funeral Chapel is serving the family.
