Ulane “Buster” V. Franklund, Wilton, died Saturday, August 27, 2016 at a Bismarck care center.

Buster was born October 3, 1927, the first of eight children born to Victor Sr. and Ida (Carlson) Franklund. He was a long time Wilton area farmer.

He served in the army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Wilton American Legion for 62 years. He was also a member of Sunne Lutheran Church and the Farmers Union.

He was united in marriage to Bernice Doerr on June 20, 1954 at Eureka, SD.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bernice, Wilton; children Rodney (Mary), Thompson, ND, Susan (Roger) Kilzer, Bentley, ND and Kenny, Wilton; grandchildren Becky Franklund (Brad Wilhite), Lori (Travis) Thompson, Marcie Franklund, Debbie (Jason) Braun, James (Jen) Kilzer, Jessica (Chris) Arodi, Jocie (Robert) Wiesinger, Jill (Aaron) Brummer, Kenny Franklund Jr., Angie Franklund, and Michelle Franklund; and 18 great-grandchildren, Ben, Brendon, Addy, Allyson, Logan, Lexi, Katie, Nathan, Kierra, Natalie, Brayden, Blake, Noah, Levi, Henry, Ashlyn, Gabbie & Riley. He is also survived by his brother, Paul (Edna), Texas; and sisters, Irene Thorson, Mandan and Avis (Larry) Christlieb, Minnesota.

Ulane was preceded in death by and infant son, Rodger Lee; his parents, Victor Sr. and Ida; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Victor Jr., Leonard (Frances), Ray (Jeanette), one sister and four brothers-in-law, Grace (Marlin) Baranyk, Woody Demchuk, Jerry Hoffart and Ted Thorson.
