MARTHA AASLAND
Martha Aasland, 101, Clearbrook, formerly of Tucson, Ariz., died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, in Clearbrook Good Samaritan Center, where she had lived since December 1994.
Martha Myers was born June 18, 1898, the daughter of Albert and Mattie Myers, in West Union, Minn. She attended school in West Union, Sardinia, N.Y., and Osakis, Minn. She attended one year of normal training and received her teaching certificate. She taught in Roseau County, Minn. She married Carl Aasland on July 30, 1919, in Roseau. From 1943 to 1948, they owned and operated the Hartz grocery store in Clearbrook. In 1948, they moved to Tucson. She returned to Clearbrook in 1986, following the death of her husband.
She is survived by daughters, Elaine (Douglas) Anderson, Clearbrook, and Gloria (Dale) Johnson, Tucson; sons, Art (Agnes), in California, Harold (Ruth), Tucson, and Duane (Marilyn), in Oregon; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter; six brothers; and a sister.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Good Sheperd Lutheran Church, Clearbrook, and in South Lawn Mortuary and Cemetery, Tucson, at a later date.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: South Lawn Memorial Park, Tucson. Memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Clearbrook, Clearbrook Good Samaritan Center Van Fund or the World Mission Prayer League. (Cease, Bagley, Minn.).
