John was a resident in the city of Monroe, Monroe County, Michigan. He lived at 252 Scott Street in the Second Ward. He was born in Rodach, Sachsen-Koburg, Germany on October 6, 1826 and died in Monroe, Michigan on May 16, 1909 from pneumonia and infirmity (just plain old.) John was widowed at the time of his death. He was married at the age of 24 years, and was the father of eleven children with all eleven living at that time. He was a farmer in Monroe. John came to the United States in 1853 and had been in this country for 47 years in 1900. He was naturalized in Pennsylvania. He lived with his son Christian and family in 1900 in the Second Ward in the city. John was survived by 8 sons, 3 daughters, 31 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
