Thomas Ray was the son of Lewis R. Musick and Mary Fitzwater, according to the Oregon State "Early Oregonian Index". They show as spouses Lucy Ann Boone and Nancy Mathis.

Thomas married Lucy Ann Boone on November 6, 1851 in Benton County, Oregon. He had a land claim in Douglas County, Oregon which at some point was listed as a donation. More research needed.

We find they family on the 1860 Federal Census of (Locust Grove Post Office), District 5, Umpqua County, Oregon, which farm land he owned, and again on the 1870 Federal Census of (Empire City Post Office), Coos County, Oregon, which he did not own. In both cases he was farming.

The June 15, 1880 Federal Census finds them down in Coyote Precinct, Lake County, California. He was a widower by that time and still raising the younger children. They had probably relocated south to benefit Lucy Ann's health, because we know she had died the month before the census was taken by the Federal Census Mortality Schedule. It shows that she had died in May of consumption, with that death enumeration ending May 31. So that means she would have died in 1880. And it states their residence had been the town of Middletown.

Three different sources give Thomas' death location to be Fresno, Sonora, Tuolumne County, and south Lake, Lake County. So until a death certificate or at least a clarifying obituary surfaces I will just create his memorial next to his loyal wife.
