Jimmy could hit a baseball so far! One day he hit a ball that hit the roof of the gym, which must have been 500 feet away. The ball bounced over the gym and against the wall of the high school. For a kid, that was about as good as it gets! David Canine.
There's a book about my brother's unit published a few years back called "Blood on the Risers" by John Leppleman, published by Ivy books I have talked with unit surivors and it seems that it's a good account of what happened on Hill 875 west of Dak To to the 173rd Airborne Division. That 3 days in hell and how a five hundred pound bomb dropped by the Air force almost wiped out the entire Company C Unit. Neil Flynt.
He was the son of Mr and Mrs James W Flynt Jr, Box 571, Pittsboro, NC.
He served with Charlie Company, 503rd Infantry Regiment,"The Rock", 173rd Airborne Brigade, USARV.
He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
