Dorothy E. Sperling, 91, of Enon passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 in Springfield. She was born September 2, 1925 in Waterford, Ohio to the late Thomas and Florence Pierce. Dorothy lived in Enon in the home literally built by her husband without other assistance since 1955. She was a wonderful mother and fabulous cook knowing only how to fix everything from scratch and teaching her daughters to do the same. She also enjoyed sewing and reading. Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Susan Staton of Springfield and Jennifer (husband Michael) Lambert of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Susie Emmons of Enon, Billy Staton of New Carlisle, Larry Staton of Springfield, and Josh (Yvonne ) Lambert of Austin, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Heather (Joe) Williams of Lima and Brandon Emmons of Enon; two brothers, Robert and Thomas Pierce; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband William E. Sperling, who passed away in 1984, and four siblings; Lucille, Ethel, Leland and Merlyn. Adkins Funeral Home, Enon, is assisting Dorothy’s family with her final wishes.
