Life Story for Joseph Snakenberg

WEBSTER-Joseph Dale Snakenberg, age 61, of rural Webster, died Monday, March 27, 2017, near Ottumwa.

Joe was born December 10, 1955, in Sigourney, the son of William and Verena (Adam) Snakenberg, and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1974. On September 24, 1983, he married Melia Wilkerson at the North English Christian Church. The couple lived in Sigourney until moving to their current home in rural Webster in 1989. Joe worked for Aller Construction, Keokuk County on the Roads Crew, the University of Iowa Athletics Department and retired from the D.O.T. He has driven for Blackhawk Farms in Packwood for the last four years. Joe was a man who knew something about everything and enjoyed farming, working on his ‘69 Camaro, rebuilding tractors, going to concerts, helping people and his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was survived by his wife: Melia of Webster; daughter: Kellie (Nathan) Bair of Webster; son: Matthew Snakenberg of Webster; three grandchildren: Brody, Burkley and Bristol; five siblings: Mary (Jim) Kobs of Mt. Pleasant, Bill (Linda) Snakenberg of Oskaloosa, Sharon (Rodger) Aller of Sigourney, Fred (Karen) Snakenberg of Sigourney and Barb Snakenberg of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Rose Ann Snakenberg.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at the church, where there will be a wake service at 3:00 p.m.
