Kelly Breslin, daughter of legendary former Newsday columnist Jimmy Breslin died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, just four days after passing out at a Manhattan restaurant. Kelly Breslin, 44, was pronounced dead at 8:25 p.m. at Bellevue Hospital Center in Manhattan. The cause of death was heart ailment.
Breslin fell ill at the Gramercy restaurant L'Express early Friday, April 17, and was taken to Bellevue, put on life support.
A New York Fire Department spokesman said paramedics responded to a call of a woman choking at L'Express at 4:04 a.m. that Friday morning. Though a doctor present at a nearby table in the restaurant performed CPR, he could only stabilize Breslin for hospital transport. Ms. Breslin succumbed to her condition days later. She was 44.
She was survived by her father and four brothers. Ms. Breslin’s mother, Rosemary Breslin, died in 1981 at age 50. Her sister, also named Rosemary, died of a blood disease in 2004, at age 47.
