Joseph L. Fox, 66, of Jeddo went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 15, 2001, in Mercy Hospital, Port Huron after a four-year battle with mylodysplasia (pre-leukemia). He was born in Port Huron on Sept. 25, 1934, to the late Joseph and Elizabeth Fox.

He was a lifelong area resident. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, in 1954. He married Patricia Moore on Jan. 24, 1959. In 1967, his childhood dream came true when he moved his wife and children to a small farm in Jeddo. He stood by and cared for his very ill wife for 23 years. After 28 years of marriage, Patricia passed away on April 9, 1987. In 1989, Joe was blessed with his angel, Mercedes Dean. They married Aug. 31, 1990.

He retired from Mueller Brass Co. in 1995, after 35 years of service. Joe enjoyed farming, camping, his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mercedes; three daughters, Jean (Marty) Petty, JoAnne (Al) Briolat and Jackie (Jim) Bryer; his sister, Elizabeth (Art) Lewan- dowski; his brother, Eugene (Pat) Fox; his grandchildren, Paul Petty, Tim (Rachel) Petty, Alan and Bethany Briolat, Justin, Jordan and Jamie Bryer; and Francis Christie; stepchildren, Mercedes (Kevin) Zepp, Mark Briones, Maria
Briones and Margarita (Ed) Christie; his mother-in-law, Margaret Moore; his three sisters-in-law, Fran (Jess) Torres, Carman Aguinaga and Ofelia Edwards; his brother-in-law, Ignacio (Jeannie) Cardenas; his niece, Lisa O'Brien; his five nephews, Arthur (Gail) Lewandowski, Mike and Joe Lewandowski, Douglas (Debbie) Fox and Steve (Julie) Fox; life- long friends, Bob Gurnsey and Fred
Gillette; special friends, Bud Cegelark, Dave Veldman and Max Weston; and several other relatives and close riends.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Patrick
Fox-Bryer.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Edward's On-the-Lake Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph M. Esper, pastor of St. Edward's On-the-Lake Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Petty, Tim Petty, Alan Briolat, Mark Briones, Marty Petty, Al Briolat and Jim Bryer. Military honors will be done by the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. A Scripture service will be 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Jowett Funeral Home.

Joe was a quiet man, who touched so many peoples lives. Those who knew him, admired him and will remember what a truly remarkable man he was. He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, family and friends.
