Janice Marie Bracken, age 77, of Mesquite, TX, went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2017. She was born November 7, 1939, in Big Spring, TX, to Herman "Shorty" and Kathryn (Holland) Baker. Janice grew up in Morton, TX, and during high school was voted Football Sweetheart, FFA Sweetheart and Most Beautiful. She married Steve Bracken in 1955, and they had four children. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and two of her granddaughters and one great granddaughter share her middle name. Janice was office manager for Dr. Luecke at Baylor Pediatrics in Dallas, TX, from 1984 to 2008. She was a member of Saturn Road Church of Christ. Janice is survived by her daughters: Rhonda Edmonds and husband David of Rockwall, TX, and Kim Garrett and husband Tommy of Rockwall, TX; sons: Stephen Bracken of Mesquite, TX, and Dan Bracken and wife Andrea of Forney, TX; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother: Larry Baker of Santa Fe, NM; and a host of loving cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children: Steve Bracken; and one brother: Donnye Baker.
