Evelyn "Evie" Halvorson, Age 87, of Waterloo died at Rosewood Estate of Friendship Village Thursday, August 10, 2017 of natural causes. She was born January 11, 1930 in Thief River Falls, MN, daughter of Fritz and Julia Axelson Christianson.
Evie grew up in Thief River Falls and attended school there. She married Roy D. Halvorson Sept. 20, 1947 in Viking, MN; he died August 28, 2012.
She worked as a custodian for Waterloo schools for 32 years retiring in 1991. Evie enjoyed playing cards and loved to cook and was noted for her lemon bars, sugar cookies, rice pudding and Cinnamon rolls. She was a happy person, especially when with and visiting friends. Evelyn was full of life.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was active in Quilters Circle.
Survived by son: Eddie (Sue) Halvorson, Waterloo, son: Nickie (Kaye) Halvorson, Waterloo, daughter: Vickie (Jesse) Wohlfeil, Alexandria, MN; 8 grandchildren: Trevor (Gina) Halvorson, Trenton Halvorson, Tracee Halvorson, Adam (Tami) Halvorson, Jessica (Craig) Dennison, Ellen (Brandon) Blount, Leanza Wohlfeil, and Zachary Wohlfeil 10 great grandchildren: Meghan (Adam) Gillins, Kaela Halvorson; Carter, Kelsey and Cooper Halvorson, Ayla and Dera Dennison; Taylor Halvorson, Wade Rasmussen, and Emma Blount; 2 great great grandchildren: Lily and Declan Gillins.
She is preceded by: parents, husband, infant son and daughter; sisters: Hannah Olson, Florence Axelson, Ruby Nelson and Jeanette Nordahl; and brothers: Reuben, Floyd, Chuck and Christianson.
