JOSEPH "JOE" EVERETT STOTTS
April 7, 1918 ~ May 15, 2009

Joseph "Joe" Everett Stotts passed away in his sleep at home in Vancouver, WA on May 15, 2009. Joe was born on April 7, 1918 in Delta, CO.

After Joe was discovered to be hard of hearing at age nine, he was enrolled at Colorado State School for the Deaf in Colorado Springs, CO where he graduated high school. He then attended Gallaudet College, (now University) in Washington, D.C., earning a Vocational Instructor's degree in Woodworking. Later he continued his education by graduating from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR with a Masters in Education, Deaf and Hard of Hearing degree.

Joe taught woodworking at Washington School for the deaf for 36 years retiring in 1980.
He enjoyed his summer vacations building houses and taking his family on long camping trips to visit his parents and brothers in Colorado.

Joe's passing leaves his wife of 60 years, Betty (Green); brother, Jim Stotts; daughter, Tanna Lambert, (Paul); grandson, Aaron (Ashley Miranda) Lambert ; great-granddaughter, Avery; and daughter, Janice Stotts.
Joe WAS preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Julia (Urban) Stotts; brothers, Roger and Chet Stotts; and his son, Michael.

A memorial service will be held on May 26, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. at Evergreen Staples Funeral Chapel, 4700 NE St. John's Road, Vancouver, WA 98661.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the Ambulatory Care Unit at Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital in Clackamas, OR, and to Community Home Health and Hospice, Vancouver, WA for the wonderful care given to our beloved husband and father.

Contributions may be made to Community Home Health and Hospice, Deaf Patient Care and Endowment.
