James "Jim" DeRossett, age 86, of Bucks Branch, Martin, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at Thompson Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, following an extended illness. Born on December 4, 1913, in Sloan, he was the son of the late Clell and Nancy Lafferty DeRossett. He was a retired coal miner and was a WW II Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sauan Mae "Susie" Ousley DeRossett. Survivors include one son, Paul David DeRossett of Prestonsburg; three brothers, Taulbie DeRossett, and Garner DeRossett, both of Mendon, Ohio; and Damon DeRossett, of Martin; three sisters, Mary Francis Mullins of St. Mary's Ohio, Goldie Branham of Jackson, Michigan, Elvira Tussey of Wilmore; 3 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 4, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, at Martin, with Robert Wireman and others officiating. The DAV funeral services were conducted by Chapter 128, Garrett. Burial was in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, under the direction of the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
