Sherrill L. Swaim, age 66, passed away March 5, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. A celebration gathering in memory of Sherrill will be Friday, March 9, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, Minn., starting at 9:30 thru 11:15. Interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager. Arrangements entrusted to Brenny Funeral Home of Staples.
Sherrill was born December 3, 1940 in Ely, Nevada to Roy and Ardus Harwood. She lived most of her life in Ely. She met and married David L. Swaim, July 20, 1958 in Reno, Nevada. They traveled and lived in various places, since David was in the Air Force. After his retirement they settled in Pillager in 1975, David's home town. In 1985 they moved back to Ely, Nevada where Sherrill grew up and where they have resided until present, doing a little snow birding to Arizona in the winter.
Survivors include two daughters, Laura (Craig) Freeman of Cheraw, SC and Debbie (Chad) Mertens of Motley; 3 grandchildren, Nicole Freeman and Brandon and Josh Mertens; 2 sisters, Janette (Alfred) Wright of Eldorado Hills, CA, Kathy (Rob) Mathers of Butler, PA; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband David, her parents Roy and Ardus Harwood and an infant son Randy Roy Swaim.
