Roger Hansen, age 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Roger was born on April 4, 1932 in Evanston, IL, the son of David Hansen and Helen Martz.

Roger grew up on Stanton Island and then moved to Highland Park when he was nine. He learned to play the violin and played with a jazz quartet in high school. Roger received his law degree from SMU, practicing and litigating primarily corporate law with Elliott, Churchill, Hansen, Maxfield, & Gibbs in downtown Dallas. He was also a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Roger began sailing as a kid with his dad on White Rock Lake and enjoyed racing in, and winning, regattas for almost seventy years. Roger helped lead White Rock Sailing Club and Corinthian Boat Club for decades and helped save White Rock Lake in the 1990s. He lived in Richardson with his family, wife Carolyn, and daughters Lorene & Alice. We enjoyed playing tennis and swimming at the Canyon Creek Country Club. He and his family attended many Texas State Bar Conventions all over the United States. After his granddaughter Lucy was born, we enjoyed many family outings to the Dallas World Aquarium, Dallas Arboretum, and Texas Ranger games. Later when Roger retired in Highland Park, he traveled extensively with his wife Anne. He will be loved and missed by all.

He is survived by sister, Sally Hansen of Dallas; his daughters, Alice Hansen of Richardson and Lorene Wojciechowski and her husband Christopher, granddaughter Lucy Wojciechowski of O'Fallon, MO.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marcy Bateman; wife and mother of his children, Carolyn Conrey; and wife, Anne Yeager.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas 75225. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the funeral home.
