Stella was the only daughter of Sherman Hostetler and Elnora Snyder. Her mother died when she was one year of age and she was then raised by grandparents Joshua 'Yost' Snyder and Mary 'Pauline' Lint in Coshocton, Ohio.

She married Ammon Sundheimer and the couple farmed. They had no children. After Ammon died she married a widower by the name of Alvin Oswald and lived in Berlin, Ohio.

"HOLMES COUNTY WOMAN, 55, DIES TUESDAY NIGHT--Mrs Alvin Oswald, 55, died at 10 pm Tuesday in her home, two miles west of Berlin.
Stella Ortha Snyder was born Feb 19, 1892, near Sugarcreek, a daughter of Sherman and Elnora Snyder Hostetler. She was first married to Ammon Sundheimer, who preceded her in death. On Nov 3, 1940, she was married to Alvin Oswald who survives.
She was a member of the Berlin Community Gospel church where funeral services will be held at 10 am Friday. Rev Earl E Miller, pastor of the church, will officiate, assisted by Rev G E Smith. Burial will be in the Union Hill Cemetery, Sugarcreek.
Friends may call at the residence Thursday afternoon and night."
