OBITUARY
Graveside services for Sister Marie Bernice Buckley, 75, of Ft. Myers, Fla., a former New Jersey resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Family Cemetery, Convent Station.
Arrangements are by the William R. Dangler Funeral Home Summit.
Sister Bernice, who died Wednesday in Ft. Myers, was born in Derby, Conn., and entered the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station,in 1946.
She was a graduate of Saint Raphael School of Nursing in Connecticut, received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and a master's in nursing from the University of Mississippi.
From 1947 through 1967, Sister Bernice served in St. Mary Hospital in Passaic, St. Raphael Hospital in New Haven, Conn., All Souls Hospital in Morristown, and St. Joseph Hospital in Paterson.
In 1971, she became a licensed midwife, serving in Mississippi, the Virgin Islands, Pennsylvania and Florida.
For 13 years, Sister she served as director of a midwifery program om Ft. Myers, and as a child health care consultant.
In 1994, she became the coordinator of the Ministry of Presence, serving the Haitian communities of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ft. Myers and the children of Leogane, Haiti.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Irene Vogt.
