A native of Barbourville, Kentucky he was a Major with the Kentucky State Police and head of the Detective Division. Algin was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, a graduate of the FBI school at Quantico, and served in the Army during World War II. He was the son of the late Taylor Gilbert and Anna Powers Roberts and was preceded in death by nine siblings.
Survivors include his wife of over sixty-five years, Shirley Roberts, Frankfort, son Rodney Simms Roberts(Olga), Winston Salem, North Carolina, daughter, Patti Pinkston (Ike), Frankfort, two grandchildren, Jessica Strader (Mark), Louisville and Natalie Johnson (Chris), Frankfort; and three great grandchildren, Noah, Ruby and Maverick.
Pallbearers will be Marty Pinkston, Ike Pinkston, Chris Johnson, Jim Nelson, Jessica Strader and Mark Strader.
