Anne V. (Gildea) Abbott, 98, of Hampton, NH, died January 22, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a period of declining health.

Born in Manchester, NH on September 5, 1919, she was the daughter of Michael and Ann (Heaney) Gildea. She resided in Manchester all of her life before moving to Hampton in 2006.

She graduated from Saint Joseph High School for Girls as well as Sacred Heart School of Nursing as a registered nurse.

In her early years, Anne was a registered nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital. Afterwards, she spent her life as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Devoted to her faith, she was a longtime communicant of Saint Catherine of Siena Church, Manchester, where she served with the Ladies Guild. Later, Anne was a member of Saint Theresa Church, Rye. She was an active member of the Catholic Nurses Association for many years.

Anne deeply loved life and her family. For many years, she especially enjoyed family reunions in Rye. Those who knew her will never forget her warmth and kindness.

She was married to her husband of fifty-nine years, Jacob J. Abbott. He died January 23, 2007.

Family members include three daughters, Ellen (Robert) Arsenault, Mary Abbott, and Jane Abbott; two sons, William (Jackie) Abbott and Arthur (Kitsy) Abbott; four grandchildren, Ryan, Connor, Kelly, and Jacob; two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Luke; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: A calling hour will be held Friday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in Saint Theresa Church, 815 Central Road, Rye Beach, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will take place in Central Cemetery, Rye, this summer.
