OBITUARY:
MARTIN ALBERT PORATH, 83, of California died Sunday in San Antonio Community Hospital, Upland, Calif. He retired in 1974 as pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, Lompoc, Calif., ending a ministerial career of 41 years. Surviving are his wife, Elinor; daughters, Zylpha Champlin of Branden, Mo., Connie Morgan of Loomis, Calif., Judi Schaeffer of Upland and Darlene Weaver of Shreveport, La.; brothers, Ben of Irving, Texas, and Erwin of Eland, Wis.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Greenlawn Memorial Park. Services also were today in California. There is no calling in Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Horne.
