Born and raised in Crawford Co., Arkansas. His parents were Thomas Benjamin and Emma Anne Hoke Strong.

He went to Indian Territory before it became the State of Oklahoma, and on December 8, 1904, married Arnetta Margaret Hill, also buried in Triplett Cemetery. They had 10 children: William Rosco (died when young), Emma Ruth Neoma, Thomas Lee Arvil, Altha Frances, James Richard, Fern, Manuel Herbert, Faye, Ray (died when young), and John Ross. Ray and William Rosco are also buried in Triplett Cemetery. Faye and Ray were twins.

Henry was a farmer all his life in the McIntosh Co., Oklahoma area. He was a very caring family man, played the fiddle at country dances, and in his later years raised roses. He always had time to spend with his grandchildren.
