Judy Rae Kramer was born January 9, 1938, in Hastings to Asa and Myrtle –Ida (Benson) Kramer. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1956, Lincoln General School of Nursing in 1959, Bethesda Hospital School of Anesthesia, St. Paul, MN in 1966, University Nebraska at Kearney in 1981, with her Bachelor’s Degree, and then her Master’s of Education/ Psychology degree from Wayne State College in 1993. She served as a parent to her cousin, Jim Benson for five years while he was a teenager. For the past 15 years, she served as “mom’ for her “daughters” Jessica, Dakota, and Jeanna. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing bridge in younger years. She also enjoyed sewing and photography. She worked in nursing in Nebraska, Minnesota, and Kansas and taught psychology courses at Wayne State College while a graduate student. She also taught L.P.N. classes at Central Community College in Kearney. Judy retired after 44 years of nursing. Judy said her only claim to fame was her being the Minnesota State bowling singles champion in 1969, which she found humorous.
