It’s been a long fight the last 10 years for my dad. He battled Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma not ONCE but TWICE and WON! The first battle was brutal for him and they gave us little hope that he would survive. However, being the hard headed and strong man that he was, he fought and fought until he beat it! When it reared it’s ugly head again a year ago, he just said that he did it once and he could do it again. So he did! I was told many times over the last 10 years that if the cancer didn’t kill him then the chemo therapy would. And now it has. The nurse told us today that the chemo therapy damaged his lungs so bad there was no way for him to recover once the pneumonia set in a month ago. He went into the hospital a month ago with pneumonia. He fought every day to breathe and get better. He was sent to a rehabilitation center and worked hard so he could come home. He was released last Friday and got to spend what was his last couple of days at home. The infection became too much for his body to handle and he was called home this morning. I know that my Pop and Mammau were so happy to see him! Rest In Peace, Daddy! The fight is over! (by Kristi Chaney Frost)
