Charles graduated from Campbell High School, served in the U.S. Army, and graduated from East Texas State University in Commerce.
He taught for 33 years in Dallas Independent School District, the last 25 at Bryan Adams High School where he taught American History and U.S. Government.
He organized a men’s 42 club and, years later, became a member of a fantasy football league. He was a resident of Forney and member of the First Baptist Church for almost 40 years.
Survived by daughters Sheryl Hopfer and Lori Burkham, brother Dale Abbott, sister Gale Baker, and nine grandchildren.
