He apparently did not serve in the Civil War*.
On September 25, 1862, he married Anna Maria Cox, youngest daughter of John Cox, Sr. and Margaret Ritter and they had three children; Margaret (born abt 1863), Clara M. (born about 1864 and William James, born November 1867. During 1870 and 1872, the couple and their children were living at 965 North 10th Street (20th Ward).
Tragedy visited the William Moyer household in 1872. On June 3rd, little Willy died of scarlet fever. On November 10th, William's wife Annie died of consumption.
On August 11, 1875 he married his first wife's half-niece Angelina Cox Leister McLachlan who had been recently widowed by the death her husband William McLachlan on January 4, 1874.
Perhaps his first wife's brother Salathial Cox was the matchmaker as Salathial lived close to both the Mclachlans and Moyers and was a bricklayer like William Moyer was. Salathial was probably aware that his sister Annie's children were orphaned and needed a father and that his neice Angeline needed a husband and father for her own children.
The new union of William Moyer and Angeline produced children Florence A. and Lillie B.
1890 Philadelphia City Directory lists William Moyer, Bricklayer, 2536 Columbia Ave.
In later years, William Moyer and Angelina went to live with their daughter Florence and Florence's husband George at 2720 Oxford Street.
* I don't think William Moyer served in the Civil War since Angelina applied for a Civil War pension for her first husband William McLachlan after William Moyer died. Also, William Moyer gets married and is having children during the period that most men were away during the war. Unfortunately, the enumerator that visited William Moyer's residence for the 1910 Census didn't complete the column that inquired about Civil War service.
