William Moyer and his parents were born in Pennsylvania. My research indicates he was probably the child of Jacob Moyer, a copper, and Catheren, his wife. He probably was born and spent his early years in Whitemarsh, Montgomery county, Pennsylvania. In 1860, this family was living in Upper Salford, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and was a wheelwright.
He apparently did not serve in the Civil War*.
On September 25, 1862, he married Anna Maria Cox, youngest daughter of John Cox, Sr. and Margaret Ritter and they had three children; Margaret (born abt 1863), Clara M. (born about 1864 and William James, born November 1867. During 1870 and 1872, the couple and their children were living at 965 North 10th Street (20th Ward).
Tragedy visited the William Moyer household in 1872. On June 3rd, little Willy died of scarlet fever. On November 10th, William's wife Annie died of consumption.
On August 11, 1875 he married his first wife's half-niece Angelina Cox Leister McLachlan who had been recently widowed by the death her husband William McLachlan on January 4, 1874.
Perhaps his first wife's brother Salathial Cox was the matchmaker as Salathial lived close to both the Mclachlans and Moyers and was a bricklayer like William Moyer was. Salathial was probably aware that his sister Annie's children were orphaned and needed a father and that his neice Angeline needed a husband and father for her own children.
The new union of William Moyer and Angeline produced children Florence A. and Lillie B.

In later years, William Moyer and Angelina went to live with their daughter Florence and Florence's husband George at 2720 Oxford Street.
