Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, June 11, 1 p.m. at the Ramey Branch Community Church for Neva Evelyn Brown, 87, of Flat Gap, Ky., who passed away Monday, June 9 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Ky. Mrs. Brown was born Jan. 18, 1921, daughter of the late Clarence and Ella McKenzie Kerns. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Brown, and one son, Carlie Brown. Surviving are one son, John Y. (Diana) Brown of West Van Lear, Ky.; two daughters, Carolyn B. Owens of Paintsville, Ky., and Sandra K. Wattenberger of Lexington, Ky.; two brothers, Douglas (Madge) Kerns of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Kenneth Kerns of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Grace (Brian) Barber of Paintsville, and Ruth Maddox of Scott Depot, W.Va.; and seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Denvil Mollette, with burial following in the Brown Cemetery at Volga, Ky. Arrangements under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home of Paintsville.
