Earl Dustin Smith, Sr., 92, of Coal Grove, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The South Point native was born January 7, 1926 a son of the late Samuel David and Anna Louise Gruber Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Deloris S. Smith, who also passed away June 27, 2018.
Mr. Smith attended South Point High School and a Corporal with the U.S. Marine Corp., serving from 1944 through 1946. He was a repairman for the Ironton Coke Plant for 14 years, retiring in 1982 and was also a member of the VFW Post 8850. He was a member of the Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Deering.
He is survived by:

a daughter: Susie Friend of South Point
a son: Earl Dusty Smith of Coal Grove
a daughter: Teri Forrest of Coal Grove
a son: Anthony (Joni) Smith of Deering
a son: Victor Smith of Coal Grove
a sister: Kay Francis Moore of South Point
nineteen grandchildren twenty four great grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren
He is preceded in death by:
two brothers and twelve sisters
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 South Sixth Street, Ironton, Ohio with Pastor Todd Warner officiating.
