Gilbert David Ferris - Born September 12, 1898, in Weston, Oregon, Mr. Ferris lived in LaCrosse, Washington for 73 years prior to moving to Vancouver. He died in a local care center at 95. He was a farmer who had lived in the Vancouver area for the last eleven years. He had received awards for his farming and cattle raising practices. He was a member of the LaCrosse Methodist Church, the Masons and the Grange. He was a school board member and a 4-H leader. He was an avid golfer until the age of 92.

He was preceded in death last year by his wife of 68 years, Lucile V. Ferris. Survivors include a daughter, Eleanor Shelton of Vancouver, Washington, two sons, Don of Boise, Idaho and Jack of Spokane, Washington; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A private family service was Thursday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Columbian, Wednesday, June 29, 1994
