 Joyce Patricia Griffin, 70, San Pedro, CA, passed away on Sept. 14, 2017, due to complications from lymphoma. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, John Patrick Griffin, and brothers Kenneth and Gary. She is survived by her mother, Margaret Griffin (Corbally), sister Kathy Griffin, brother John (Jennifer), niece Claire & nephew John P., and numerous cousins in the Bidinger and Neumann families. Joyce was raised in Forest Park & Oak Park and graduated from Mundelein College. She was an elementary schoolteacher in Chicago, then moved to Santa Monica, CA, where she joined the LA School System for many years and later earned a Master's in School Administration from Pepperdine University. Joyce was widely loved for her kind heart, ready laugh and appreciation for any social gathering. She was a loyal Chicagoan, an avid traveler, and a great friend to countless others. Following a private ceremony, a Celebration of Life will be announced.
