Shirley Ann Aldeman was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Friday, October 5, 2018.
A gathering for family and friends will be held from 4 to 7 pm Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Friends of the Animal Center Foundation or Hospice of Iowa City. Shirley Ann Wing was born in Des Moines and raised in Waterloo, she attended Waterloo West High School before moving to Iowa City where she would make her home for the rest of her life. She retired from ACT in 2011. Her great passions were her family, friends and animals. She had four dogs: Chauncey, Gabby, Sadie and Ella and helped feed and care for stray cats that sought refuge in the Aldeman backyard. She volunteered with Hospice of Iowa City and sang in a community choir. She had a gigantic, loving heart and loved to make people laugh. She will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Caleb Aldeman; daughters Staci (Brent) Appel, Christy Fehlberg, and Megan Wildebour; grandchildren Theodore, Jacob, Issac, Olivia, Michael, and Samuel Appel, Taylor (David) Netolicky and Kyle Fehlberg; and great-granddaughter Natalie Netolicky. She is also survived by her step-daughters Kelley (Jon) Meister, Kristin Keith, Courtney (Troy) Block and step-grandchildren Chloe and Justin Keith, Meagan (Jason) Whetstone and Jackson Block. She is preceded in death by both parents William and Marie Wing; siblings Roger Wing, Linda Burke, Donna Okerstrom and step-daughter Heidi (Tom) Whetstone.
