Noah Jefferson Briles, who had been ill for the last three months with dropsy, died Monday evening at 5 o'clock at his home in the northeast part of Neodesha, Kansas

Noah Jefferson Briles was born May 27, 1859, on a farm in Coffey County, Kansas, and died at the home in Neodesha, Kansas, Feb 29, 1932 at age of 72 years, nine month, and two days, after about three months of patient suffering with dropsy and a complication of diseases.

Dec. 28, 1880, he was united in marriage to Laura J. Maupin.

To this union three children were born, Herbert, of Neodesha, KS, and Ezekiel, of Buffalo, KS, and one child, Tillie Cordelia, who passed away at the age of 14 years.

He leaves to mourn his going, his devoted wife; two sons; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of friends, neighbors, and other relatives.

Mr. Briles was converted in a meeting held at Star Chapel, about six miles north of Neodesha, over 40 years ago. He has lived a consistent Christian life ever since.

To know him was to love him. He was a good husband, a loving father, a helpful neighbor, and a friend to everybody. Patient to the end, and thoughtful of the welfare of others. Truly his life was Christ centered. It was his consuming desire to see the work of God prosper. Truly he could say, "The zeal of thine House hath eaten me up."

Funeral services held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Church of God, for Mr. Briles, were largely attended.

The pastor, the Rev. C.O. Newman, was assisted in conducting the services by the Rev. C.E. Moyer, of Independence, and the Rev. J.E. Ivy, both former pastors.

Funeral music was sung by Mrs. Faye Hicks Hanna and Miss Frances Newman, accompanied by Miss Ferd (Fred) Jones. Burial was made in Hatler cemetery, northwest of Neodesha, Kansas.

Pall bearers were: Arthur Hicks, John Hicks, Estal Briles, Bernard Newby, Marion Newby, and Orland Newby. NOTE: Obit contributed by F.A.G. member, Love Never Dies #47179119 on July 1, 2013
