Mrs. King excelled in all of her chosen life paths, including Navy Wife (the hardest job in the Navy), beautician, real estate agent, and mother. She was a proud and staunch Democrat. Mrs. King shared her life with her devoted and loving husband, Arthur Houston King, for 59 years until his death in 2002.
After she and Arthur retired, Mrs. King continued to enjoy her eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Arthur's roses, and her friends in the Joy Club at Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church.
Mrs. King is survived by son Arthur Dale King and wife Terry of Portsmouth, Virginia; son Richard Darrel King and wife Chris of Rising Sun, Maryland; daughter Phyllis Ann King of Hammond, Louisiana; and son David Scott King and wife Judy of South Mills. Also surviving are her brother Ernest Stinson of Dayton, Ohio; sister Edna Parrish and husband Carline of Glasgow, Kentucky; and sister Lois Garrett of Crossville, Tennessee. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Tilman Stinson and a sister, Mary Laurina Stinson.
A funeral service to celebrate her life and memory will be held Monday, May 21 at 1:00 P. M. at the Twiford Funeral Home, Northside Chapel, 1115 North Road Street, Elizabeth City, NC., with Rev. Mike Gothard and Rev. James Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Northside Road, Elizabeth City.
