Nance T. Abdoo, 94, of Teaneck, New Jersey and formerly River Edge, New Jersey, died Saturday, October 27, 2018 at home surrounded by family and friends.

She was born April 23, 1924, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Katarina and Franc Petro of Czechoslovakia. She was the youngest girl of her siblings---Mary, Evelyn, Frances, Katherine, Joseph, and Frank, all deceased.

On September 29, 1950 she married Albert V. Abdoo of Poughkeepsie, New York, also deceased.

Nance earned her RN, graduating from the Cadet Nursing Program at Newark City Hospital in 1946 after completing her senior term at the Talihina Indian Reservation Hospital in Talihina, Oklahoma. This experience started a lifetime of adventures and travels that she picked up again after raising her family with Albert.

She worked as an RN in several hospitals from the Bronx and Newburgh, New York, to northern New Jersey, where she spent many years at River Dell Hospital in Oradell, New Jersey. She retired from her nursing career as Directress of Nurses at Woodcrest Nursing Home in New Milford, New Jersey, but continued as a private duty nurse caring for elderly patients for some years afterward.

Nance is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Candace Abdoo; daughter and son-in-law, Petra and Brian Winterberg; and daughter and son-in-law, Alicia and Anthony Inzerillo; grandchildren, Marisa (Joe) Buono, Sean (Katie) Abdoo, and Alexander Winterberg and his husband, Clarke Bowling. She has been blessed with three great-grandchildren, Will and Brie Abdoo, and Annalisa Buono. She was also blessed to have step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved and cherished her.

Her viewing and wake will be held Friday, November 2 from 4-8 p.m. at Miller's Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, New York.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday November 3, 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 231 Church Street, Poughkeepsie, New York, followed by internment at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
