WOOSTER - Mabel R. Hartman, age 95, of Wooster, died Friday, November 16, 2018, at her residence, following a period of declining health. 

Mabel was born on September 1, 1923, in Masontown, PA, to the late Jacob and Olive (Townsend) Berkshire, graduated from German Township (PA) High School and received a degree in elementary education Eastern Mennonite University. She married Melvin S. Hartman on June 3, 1948, in Masontown, PA. 

She was an elementary teacher and did housekeeping before she became a full time homemaker. She was an award winning baker and after the kids were raised she ran Cake World, a candy, cake and catering company, out of her home and was once featured on Del’s Folks on WKYC. 

Mabel was a member of Smithville Mennonite Church.

She was preceded in death by husband, Melvin S. Hartman on May 12, 1992; daughter, Carol Hartman; grandson, Marvin Swann; and siblings, Edna, Ruth, Jacob Lloyd “JL” Jr., Eugene, James, and Miriam Berkshire. 

Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at Smithville Mennonite Church, 6097 Akron Road, Smithville. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
