Chumash neophyte Luís (no surname) was born at a Chumash ranchería in the vicinity of Mission La Purísima Concepción about 1795. He was the son of Chumash neophytes Simón "Tujalit" (no surname) and Anastasia (no surname; LPC Baptism 00037). After losing two young children at the mission, his parents postponed his baptism until he was about four years old. Luís was baptized as a young boy on August 20, 1799 (LPC Baptism 01276). Despite these precautions, Luís died at the mission a year later and was buried in the mission cemetery (first location) on August 30, 1800 (LPC Death 00383).
