Margaret Nell Abernathy, 86, of Dallas, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the Medical Center of Plano. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Dr. James Ralson officiating. Burial will follow at Brigham Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dave Glass, Dave Emerick, Jeff Emerick, Jack Emerick, Mitchel Abernathy and Brent Abernathy.
Margaret was born on September 21, 1930 in Grand Prairie, Texas to Boyd and Margaret Elizabeth Goetsell Ballard. She married Ralph Lane Abernathy on August 15, 1952 in Grand Prairie, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Commerce.
Margaret is survived by her children, Stephen Abernathy and wife, Debbie, Mary Glass and husband, Dave, Amy Emerick and husband, Dave; sister, Betty Ogles; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Barbara Pearson and Mary Ann White.
