"Seneca Falls, Mar. 14 — George B. Nearpass, 79, former special examiner for the United States Pension bureau, died Saturday afternoon at his home, 6 Daniels Street. Born in Tyre, Mr. Nearpass came to Seneca Falls 30 years ago. He served 15 years in the pension bureau in Washington and in Portland, Maine, and for twenty years was a billing clerk in the office of Gould's Pump. Ten years ago he retired when his health began to fail. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Theora Nearpass; two daughters, Mrs. Edna D. Forbes of Syracuse and Mrs. L. A. Howell of Binghamton, and a granddaughter, Miss Jane Forbes. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from Sanderson's Undertaking parlors. Rev. Ralph E. Hiney of the First Methodist Episcopal Church officiating, with interment in Restvale cemetery." (March 14, 1932, The Geneva Daily Times, NY)
