"Donna Armes, 15, Died Thursday; Services Sunday"
Donna Armes, 15, 801 East Main street, died at 9:40 a.m. Thursday at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., following an illness of several months. Cause of death was given as Hodgkins disease.
She was a member of the Sophomore class at Richmond high school where she was a member of the band, the Echo staff and girls sextette, president of the Latin club and secretary of the Science club.
Last year she received a 1 rating for her bassoon solo at the district music festival in Chillicothe, Mo., and a superior rating in the state contests in Columbia. Despite her illness, she was planning and working toward entering the spring contests this year.
She was a member of the Richmond Church of Christ.
Donna was born June 7, 1947 in Excelsior Springs, a daughter of Robert A Armes, Essex, Mo., and Mary Lois (Elliott) Armes of Lawson. She had lived most of her life in Richmond.
Surviving are her father, Robert Armes of Lawson; her mother, Mrs. Lois Armes of Parkville; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Elliott of Richmond; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Armes of Lathrop; maternal great grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Elliott of Richmond, and Mrs. Minnie Slater of Cowgill.
Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Thurman chapel with evangelist Lawrence Swearingen of Parkville, Mo., officiating. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Garden.
The family will receive friends at the Thurman Funeral home from 7 to 9 o'clock Saturday night.
Pallbearers will be classmates: Bob Mason Hill, Bruce White, George Grauberger, Bobby Jones, Dale Stewart, and Franklin Weary.
