Hazel and James "Clarence" Williams were united in marriage on December 4, 1921 at Hamlin, Texas. They moved to Guymon in the late 1930's from Elmer, Oklahoma. Clarence preceded her in death on July 28, 1958.
Hazel accepted Christ and was baptized in 1920 at 17 years of age. Hazel was active in the Baptist Church and taught Sunday School Class for over 30 years. She was currently a member of the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church in Guymon. She had served as a dorm mom at Panhandle A&M College in Goodwell for several years and was a longtime member of the Eastern Star. Hazel became a resident of Dunaway Manor in the spring of 1994 and always welcomed visitors with her warm, bright smile.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; one sister, Opal Goodgame; three brothers: Roscoe, Ancil and Leaman Proffitt; a son-in-law, Charles Mallard; and one grandson, Donald Glen Mallard.
She is survived by her three children: Erma Faye Mallard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, James Eugene "Pete" and his wife, Zona (Herbel) Williams of Apopka, Florida, and Jackie Lee and his wife, Lois (Mouser) Williams of Scottsdale, Arizona; one brother, Asa Proffitt of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters: Onita Rasberry of Ft. Worth, Texas and Lota McDaniel of Hamlin, Texas; grandchildren: James Charles Mallard and wife, Linda, Zona Dyanne (Williams) Smith and husband, Dorian, Thomas Eugene Williams and wife, Donna, Terry Allen Burdge and wife, Jana, Sheryl Lynn (Williams) Williams and husband, Tim, Robert Williams and wife, Dora, Tracy (Williams) Quick and husband, Steven, and Mrs. Don (Mickie) Mallard. Hazel is also survived by eighteen great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
Services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, June 9th at 2:00 p.m. at the Bunch - Roberts Chapel with Rev. Terry Armstrong, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Services are under the direction of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
